Bicycle Stolen Oct. 15 from Noroton Heights RR Station

A Cannondale road bike was stolen Monday, Oct. 14, from Noroton Heights Railroad Station.

Less than a week before new bicycle racks were installed at Darien railroad stations, in good part to help prevent theft, a Cannondale road bike was stolen from Noroton Heights Railroad Station.

And a police officer investigating the theft found evidence (cut bicycle chains) of two other bicycles stolen at the station, although the victims didn't report the thefts to police. (Days before the theft, on Oct. 11, a bicycle was reported stolen from Darien Railroad Station.)

The victim rode his red and black colored bicycle to the station and left it there at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. By 8:30 p.m., when the commuter returned by train to the station, the bike was gone.

"We want to encourage people to report a theft like that when it does occur," said Sgt. Jeremiah Johnson, a detective with Darien police.
