Copper Theft from Darien House

Eight copper downspouts were stolen from an Old Farm Road house sometime between Nov. 29 and 30.

Eight copper downspouts were stolen from a house on Old Farm Road sometime between Thursday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Nov. 30.

The victim told police on Saturday, Dec. 1, that she believed the downspouts were there when she left the house at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday. She noticed them missing the next day at about 7:30 a.m.

The eight downspouts have an estimated value of $2,000 (or about $250 apiece).

These other metal thefts occurred this year in Darien:

  • Five copper down spouts, each one eight feet in length, were removed last May from the back of a house on St. Nicholas Road.
  • A Stamford man was arrested in April on an accusation he stole large magnesium bread racks from Stop & Shop in Goodwives Shopping Center. Each rack was valued at $479.
  • On March 24, 400 pounds of copper wire were reported stolen from a construction site at 20 West Ave.
