Copper Stolen Overnight from Ring's End Lumber

Rolls of copper are successfully stolen from Ring's End Lumber, but it would have been easier to use the unlocked doors.

Rolls of copper sheeting valued at $1,642 were stolen overnight between Thursday, June 12 and Friday, June 13 from Ring's End Lumber at 181 West Ave., according to a Darien police report.

Someone went through the trouble of breaking in through a garage door of one of the storage buildings — although other garage doors in the same building had been unlocked overnight, according to the report.

The outer fence of the business, which has several buildings, had been locked overnight. It was unclear how the thief or thieves got in and out of the fenced-in area.

The business had been closed at 7 p.m. The break-in was discovered after 5:30 a.m.
