Cops: Darien Woman Drove with Over 2X Legal Alcohol Limit
The arrest came after a Darien woman's car struck a vehicle stopped for traffic on the Post Road, police said.
A 29-year-old Darien woman had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her bloodstream when her car struck the rear of another vehicle on the Post Road, police said
Darien police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the incident:
Caitlin Leonetti of 397 Post Rd. was driving west on U.S. Route 1 near its intersection with Brookside Road at about 8:53 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, when her 2012 Nissan struck a 2014 Volvo. The Volvo had been stopped in a line of traffic.
The rear bumper and muffler of the Volvo, owned by a Darien woman, were damaged. No one was injured in the incident.

Asked by a police officer why she didn't stop in time, Leonetti replied that she didn't know what happened. The officer could smell alcohol on her and administered field sobriety tests, which she failed.
She was also given a breath test twice, showing a blood-alcohol level of 0.177 in one test and 0.1713 in another -- more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Leonetti was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to drive a reasonable distance from another vehicle. She was released on a $250 bond shortly after midnight and is scheduled to appear Dec. 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
