Cops: Husband Violates Protective Order by Calling Wife

A Darien man was charged with violating a protective order which forbade him from calling his wife.

A 43-year-old Darien man was arrested and held on a $40,000 bond because he violated a protective order by trying to call his wife three times, according to Darien police.

Police said the man, a resident at the Avalon at Darien apartment complex at 137 Hollow Tree Ridge Rd., was accused of violating the protective order by trying to contact his estranged wife, and when he visited police headquarters to discuss the matter, police asked to see his cell phone.

Records of recent calls on the cell phone showed that the man had made three calls to his wife, police said. Each one was a violation of the protective order not to contact her, they said.

The man was arrested Sunday, June 23 and was due to appear the next day, Monday, in state Superior Court in Stamford. On Dec. 30, 2012, police had charged the man with disorderly conduct. He is next due to appear in court on Aug. 13. His bond has been reduced to $2,500.
