Darien Man, 24, Charged with Pot Possession

A 24-year-old Darien man was charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana after his car was pulled over for not having a license plate attached to the front bumper, Darien police said.

Police gave this account of the incident:

The man, a resident of Allen O'Neill Drive, was driving a 1997 Lexus south on Noroton Avenue near its intersection with Hecker Avenue at 8:42 p.m. on Thursay, July 18, when a police officer pulled over the car.

The officer immediately smelled marijuana on starting to talk with the driver, who had a small amount of marijuana in his pocket. The driver was issued an infraction ticket for possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.
