Darien Man Arrested for Choking His Wife

The man and his wife were arguing over photos, according to police.

 

received a call from a woman on May 16 reporting that her 58-year-old father choked her mother at their Noroton Avenue residence.

When officers arrived, the suspect said that he had been requesting from his wife some pictures of his brother, but got upset when she only gave him one, according to police. He said that in response, he threw a potted plant, but never physically touched his wife.

When officers spoke to the victim, she told them that she did argue with her husband, which resulted in him throwing the plant, but he then came behind her, put his hands around her neck and choked her, police said. There were no visible marks seen on the victim's neck, according to police, and she refused medical attention.

Officers also found a 9mm handgun on the suspect and he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree strangulation. His bond was set at $10,000.

A 38-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested on Sunday after a dispute with his girlfriend while the two driving on I-95 S.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Jake's Place on Ledge Road to assist a female driver with her vehicle. When they spoke with the driver, she informed them that she was driving on I-95 S with her boyfriend Sean Joyce when the two got into a verbal argument.

During the dispute, the driver told police that Joyce broke the mounting arm of the rearview mirror and the windshield wiper control lever and then accidentally hit her on the arm in the process. The driver told police that she then exited the highway and parked in front of the restaurant. She said that Joyce then left the car and began walking on foot, according to police.

When officers caught up to him at the westbound platform of the Noroton Heights train station, Joyce told police that he never hit the victim accidentally or intentionally. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and posted a $250. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 22.

The owner of a home on Wilson Ridge Road reported a burglary on May 16, according to police.

The victim arrived at the home at around 5:41 p.m. and noticed that the door in the garage that leads to the kitchen was forced open, police said.

When the victim entered the master bedroom, police said that it was in disarray and a drawer that contained some jewelry was missing. According to police, a suspicious vehicle described as a large black sedan was also noticed in the area.

A town resident reported that a box containing $200 worth of jewelry and two duffel bags of clothes worth a total of $800 was stolen from her car while it was being transported on a car carrier from Dallas, Tex. to Darien.

According to police, the car carrier left Dallas on May 7 and arrived four days later because of mechanical problems. It was concluded that the theft took place while the car was still in Texas.
