Darien Woman, 19, Charged with Assaulting Mother

A 19-year-old Darien woman was arrested after she assaulted her mother, although the injuries did not require treatment, police said.

A 19-year-old Darien woman struck her mother on her neck and arm and closed a door on her hand last Monday, according to , who arrested the teenager.

Police gave this account of the incident:

Sometime before 12:18 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, a verbal argument between a the mother and daughter escalated, and the daughter struck her mother.

Police who responded to a call from the house saw red marks on the mother's neck and upper right arm, but she didn't require treatment.

Police arrested the daughter on charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. They later released her on a written promise to appear the next day in state Superior Court in Stamford.
