Developer to Explain Changes to Apartment Complex Proposal Wednesday

The new design for the complex proposes building three multi-family units on Island Road

A developer who is proposing to build a multi-story luxury apartment complex in Ramsey is expected to explain some changes made to the plan at a continued Board of Adjustment hearing on the complex Wednesday night.

According to developer Ed Russo, the changes include making the building two stories shorter, removing the three-bedroom units planned in the apartment complex, and replacing seven single-family homes previously proposed with two additional three-story multi-family buildings.

A proposal for a luxury apartment complex first presented to the board last month previously called for six stories – four residential and two parking. The new plan reduces the overall height to four stories, three residential and one parking, Russo said Tuesday.

The plan also originally proposed 191-units that included a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. The 19 three-bedroom units have been replaced with one and two-bedroom units.

The plan also originally called for seven single family homes along Ferguson Place. The redesign replaces those with two 22-unit multi-family complexes.

The changes were made in response to comments made by board members at last month’s initial hearing, and by residents in the area of Island Road who attended a public information session the developer held last fall, Russo said.

Russo said his development firm will explain the changes to the plan to the Board of Adjusment at Wednesday night’s meeting, which will be held at borough hall beginning at 7:30 p.m.
