Domestic Dispute Devolves into Digital Defenestration

A 28-year-old Darien woman was out with coworkers at night and came home intoxicated, her husband told police on Thursday, May 8, according to a Darien police report.

Police gave this account of what happened next (accusations not proven in court, and largely based on what the husband told them and what police saw):

She started arguing, breaking things and throwing things in the couple's apartment at Avalon Darien, 137 Hollow Tree Ridge Rd.

She took his laptop and defenestrated it — that is, threw it off the second-floor balcony.

The husband, 31, took her computer and threw it off the second-floor balcony.

He called police at 10:45 p.m. and told them his wife was arguing, breaking things and throwing things.

When police arrived, they saw computer components broken and on the ground below the second-floor balcony.

They also saw a small cut on the husband's mouth.

The wife was extremely uncooperative and refused to give police details about what had happened.

She was charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Her husband was also charged with disorderly conduct.

Each was given a misdemeanor summons to appear the next morning in state Superior Court in Stamford. There was no bond.
