Driving in New Canaan Friday? Beware: Police Target Traffic Violations

New Canaan police officers will be looking for drivers that exceed the speed limit and use handheld cell phones, according to a statement released by Captain Leon Krolikowski.

The New Canaan Police Department will increase its efforts this Friday to target drivers that violate traffic laws, according to a statement released by Captain Leon Krolikowski.

Several officers will be assigned exclusively to traffic enforcement duties throughout the day, Krolikowski said.

Those officers will be on patrol in both marked and unmarked vehicles to target drivers that exceed the speed limit, use handheld cellular phones while driving, pass stopped school buses, follow other vehicles to closely and violate other traffic laws in ways that may cause accidents, he said.
