DUI Charge for Darien Man on Old Kings Hwy.

Police received a tip that a 45-year-old Darien man seemed intoxicated when he drove out of Pear Tree Point Beach.

A 45-year-old Darien man was intoxicated when he got into his Dodge Caravan at Pear Tree Point Beach, according to a call received by police on Tuesday.

Darien police said they then found the man driving erraticly on Old Kings Highway South, stopped him and then charged him with driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Capt. Frederick Komm, a spokesman for the , gave this account of the incident in a news release:

At about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Police received the call that the man was intoxicated. The caller gave police a description of the 1992 Dodge Caravan and information on the license number of the vehicle.

Police officers later spotted the vehicle traveling east on Old Kings Highway South, and saw it cross over the center dividing line several times. They stopped the vehicle.

The driver, Robert Pleasants of 38 Relihan Rd., failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted a $250 bond and is to appear June 4 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
