Authorities announced Sunday the Stamford Criminal Investigations Bureau would be investigating the death of an 8-year-old boy who fell from a sixth-floor apartment window.

Stamford Police have identified the 8-year-old boy who died after falling from a sixth floor apartment window on Saturday as Alexander Wu.

Lt. Diedrich Hohn of the Stamford Police Department said the Bureau of Criminal Investigations would be handling the case.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Stamford Police responded to a report that a child had fallen from the sixth floor at the Rippowam Manor apartment complex at 11 W. North St. Officers reportedly found Wu unconscious on the ground outside the building. He was transported to Stamford Hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the fall.
