Filching from the Family?

This week's unusual crime reports from all over lower Fairfield County include plenty of family-related incidents: a birth, a death, two thefts and one man telling police that the shotgun in the trunk was his father's.

All in the family, Part 1: Trumbull police arrested a Winsted man on charges that from his mother and cashed them for about $8,000.

All in the family, Part 2: A woman staying in a motel in Milford allegedly “visited” her brother and stepfather’s home in Fairfield. Police said .

Westport police charged a Bridgeport man with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle after initiating a traffic stop and spotting marijuana in his back seat. A search of the vehicle turned up a shotgun in the trunk. The man told the officers it was his father's gun and that he forgot it was in his car.

Wilton police found themselves stuck at this past weekend after a non-violent offender under their care , forcing Wilton to stand by their man's side while he was admitted as a patient. Part of the problem was due to the man being unable to pay a $10,000 bond after allegedly breaking probation for a "violation of wage payments" crime. When Monday came around, cops successfully pleaded with the judge to drop the $10,000 to a simple promise-to-appear.
