Fire Log: Alarm at Whole Foods, Accidents Along Noroton Avenue

The town's fire departments also responded to a set of burning wires on Fitch Avenue last week.

TUESDAY, MAY 31

  • Motor vehicle accident: Around 8:54 p.m., the and responded to a motor vehicle accident/injury at I-95 North exit 11.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1

  • Fire alarm activation: The , NHFD, and DFD all responded to 9 Shields Ln. around 3:29 p.m. after a child unintentionally pulled the fire alarm.

THURSDAY, JUNE 2

  • Burning wires: A set of burning wires brought the DFD, NHFD, and NFD to 65 Fitch Ave. around 2:35 p.m. Fire officials determined that the blaze had begun when a tree fell on the wires.
  • Motor vehicle accident: The NFD responded to 1927 Post Rd. around 6:39 p.m. after a BMW careened through traffic and crashed into the Darien Valero service bay, coming to rest under a vehicle on the station's lift. Read the full story here:
  • Motor vehicle accident: Around 6:53 p.m., the NHFD and NFD were called to respond to a motor vehicle accident that left a biker injured in the vicinity of Noroton Avenue and Hecker Avenue.

FRIDAY, JUNE 3

  • Fire alarm activation: The DFD, NHFD, and NFD all responded to a fire alarm activation at BMW of Darien (140 Ledge Road) around 9:19 a.m. The alarm was triggered by a sprinkler company working on the facility's system.
  • Motor vehicle accident: Around 3:59 p.m., the NHF was called to respond to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near Noroton Avenue and Hecker Avenue.

SATURDAY, JUNE 4

  • Fire alarm activation: A fire alarm was triggered by dust from cleaners at Whole Foods (150 Ledge Rd.) around 11:40 p.m., bringing the DFD to the scene.

SUNDAY, JUNE 5

  • Motor vehicle accident: The NFD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Whaling road around 4:05 p.m.
