Fire Log: Faulty Appliances Spark Smoke Scares
Firefighters also responded to three motor vehicle accidents on I-95 North last week.

Tuesday, Aug. 24
FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION: Around 8:56 a.m., the Darien Fire Department, Noroton Fire Department, and Noroton Heights Fire Department responded to an alarm activation at 719 Post Road. The precipitating smoke was traced to a malfunctioning washing machine.

LIFT ASSIST: The Noroton Heights Fire Department was called to 65 Bridle Trl. around 5:54 p.m. to perform a lift assist with EMS responders.

SMOKE SCARE: A smoke scare sent the Darien Fire Department to 54 Brookside Rd. around 10:52 p.m. The cause was determined to be a malfunctioning refrigerator, which was emitting smoke and sparks.
Friday, Aug. 27
SMOKE SCARE: Around 10:11 a.m., the Darien Fire Department, Noroton Fire Department, and Noroton Heights Fire Department responded to a smoke scare at 257 Noroton Ave. Firefighters traced the fumes to a malfunctioning oil burner at the residence.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT/INJURY: The Darien Fire Department and Noroton Heights Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident/injury near I-95 northbound exit 11 around 11:09 a.m.
Sunday, Aug. 29
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT/INJURY: Around 11:21 a.m., the Darien Fire Department and Noroton Heights Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident/injury on I-95 North between exits 10 & 11.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT/INJURY: Around 3:08 p.m., the Darien Fire Department and Noroton Heights Fire Department were brought to the scene of a second motor vehicle accident/injury on I-95 North, this one near exit 10.
