Fire Log: Multiple Serious Accidents

Firefighters also responded to a smoke scare and a gas odor.

The following information was provided by the Office of the Fire Marshal:

Wednesday, Oct. 13

STUCK IN ELEVATOR: Around 9:40 a.m., the Darien Fire Department was dispatched to 800 Post Road after a report of a person stuck in an elevator, but the call was cancelled before firefighters arrived on scene.

Saturday, Oct. 16

FATAL ACCIDENT: Around 2:25 a.m., the Darien Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on southbound I-95 between exits 10 and 11. Two people were declared dead on scene, and the driver of the vehicle responsible faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: The Noroton Heights Fire Department was called to an accident on I-95 south at exit 11 around 4:09 a.m.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: A motor vehicle accident brought the Noroton Heights Fire Department to the intersection of Noroton Avenue and Hecker Avenue around 3:29 p.m.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Around 10:37 p.m., the Darien Fire Department responded to a report of a scooter accident at Old Kings Highway North and Raymond Street.

Sunday, Oct. 17

GAS ODOR: The Noroton Heights Fire Department responded to a report of a gas odor around 12:03 p.m. at 137 Hollow Tree Ridge Road. The cause was determined to be a malfunctioning kitchen stove.

SMOKE SCARE: A smoke scare brought the Darien Fire Department to 6 Woodley Road around 3:26 p.m. The source was found to be burnt food in the kitchen of the residence.
