Smash an SUV Window, Win a Prize: 5 Break-ins at YMCA

Five sport utility vehicles had smashed windows late Saturday afternoon, and some thief had items that were in those vehicles.

Side windows of five vehicles were smashed and items were taken from the SUVs sometime before 3:56 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of the Darien YMCA, 2420 Post Rd.

Here's what victims reported stolen:

  • From a 2013 White Ford Edge — right rear side window was smashed — a red purse, a checkbook, a brown wallet containing a debit card and identification, along with $1,070.
  • From a 2011 Green Honda Odyssey — right front passenger window was smashed — a Whole Foods Market reversible bag containing seven blue mesh workout shirts, two small gray stroller bags, and five pink sponge balls (used for exercise).
  • From a 2012 black Jeep Cherokee — left rear window smashed — a brown business card holder, two credit cards and an employer's building access card.
  • From a 2014 Red Toyota Highlander — right front passenger window smashed — a gray Kate Spade purse, a checkbook, a blue wallet $115 in cash, five credit cards a platinum double-band ring with 14 to 15 small diamonds and valued at $2,400.
  • From a 2011 blue GMC Acadia — left front window smashed — a brown wallet containing four credit cards and $40 in cash.

Darien police say there are videos of the parking lot and an investigation is continuing.
