For Richer, for Poorer: Wedding Guest Charged with Thefts

Some were blue after some things were borrowed: Greenwich police say a guest admitted stealing from fellow wedding attendees. (Well, they won't soon forget this wedding, and they'll always have something to tell their children.)

As a wedding reception was winding down at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club early Sunday, some guests discovered that their purses, credit cards and digital cameras were missing.

It turns out that a fellow wedding guest is the thief, according to Greenwich Police.

The suspect was identified from a surveillance tape of the club's front desk area "stealing property from behind the front desk including guests' purses, credit cards and digital cameras prior to his departure from the wedding," according to a Greenwich Police report.

Police located and questioned him at the Stamford Marriott where he was staying, and "he admitted to the theft of the property," according to the police report. The thefts were reported about 1:20 a.m. June 10.

The man was identified as David Lee Jentis, 32, of El Paso, TX. He was charged with fourth-degree larceny in connection with the theft of the purses and cameras, and four counts of credit card theft.

Jentis was released after posting $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear June 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said investigators recovered the stolen items.
