Girl, 16, Assaulted by Group of Females at Theater

A teenage girl working the concession stand at Darien Playhouse was assaulted by several females on Sunday; police say there was tension between the victim and one of the females in the group.

A group of females assaulted a 16-year-old girl working at the concession stand at Darien Playhouse on Sunday, hurting her so badly that she was treated at Stamford Hospital, Darien police said.

Police gave this account of the matter:

Late in the afternoon, the females arrived together at the movie theater, located at 1077 Post Rd. and attacked the girl. The victim had scratches or small cuts on her face and bruising under one of her eyes after the assault.

At 5:11 p.m., when police were called, the group had already left, but the victim knew one of the females in the group with whom she had had "prior tensions," as a police news release put it.

The girl was taken to Stamford Hospital by Darien EMS-Post 53, was treated there and released.

Darien Police Department's Youth Division is investigating the incident.

And that is it? Police did not follow up, question, arrest, ... Nothing?

They got the call at 5:11 p.m. yesterday. The Youth Division is investigating. They may or may not know the exact identity of one of the females. They'll need arrest warrants to make arrests, and that takes time. We commonly see in the arrest warrants that arrests are made days or weeks afterward. It probably could be speeded up with overtime—would you want the department to to pay it?

I don't want the names of the gals but do all of them go to DHS? Could be girls from other towns who just work at the theater.

these young strumpets were jealous of her because she is the very very few in her peers to hold a after school job.

Strumpets! Classic.

@david: Do you really have to troll? There are more than enough here. The last sentence was not necessary.

The problem here is that your readers think that everything the police do is like a cop show on TV. Everything is not wrapped up in one hour. The police operate under something called the "US Constitution". An arrest made by a police officer with out a warrant signed by a Judge it is an exception to the Constitution otherwise they need an arrest warrant. It sounds like the facts may not have been clear and that is part of what goes into "investigations". The line about overtime was uncalled for. Believe you me, if there was a urgent need to finish this up quickly it would have been done. To me what would have been more interesting is where exactly this girl was attacked; from behind the counter, when other people were present, any camaras in the area.etc. Oh and to Cath, people from all towns commit crime. Let's not sound prejudice.

no need for overtime, they waste plenty of time sitting in the back of parking lots on the phone or talking to each other.

I want the names!

@ thomas, do you know that as a fact she was attacked because she has an after school job? According to your labeling of these girls then they're working too. I'm sure that what ever actually transpired, no one will have been able to make it up. Standing by for the follow up.

high school girls in Darien are very unlikely to get in a physical altercation like this in downtown Darien. Lets keep 'the hood' out of Darien please... And that being said, I hope the poor girl is ok.

She knew at least some of the girls, so how much investigating? Here it is a week and a half later and NO follow up. No suprise to me. Weeks will go by, people forget and the story will die. THAT is what makes people like me wonder who it was, since they seem to have some sway with the police to keep the names out of the blotter and the news.

@Patch, nothing to report on this? No one charged? Case dropped?
