Hefty Generator Stolen in a 'Neat and Orderly' Way

A big, expensive generator was stolen from a home on Pear Tree Point Road while the residents were away in Florida.

A "whole house" generator, valued at $10,500 and weighing about 1,200 pounds, was stolen from a house on Pear Tree Point Road sometime between Christmas and Jan. 9, Darien police said.

The theft occurred while the home's residents were away in Florida, police were told.

The theft was discovered on Jan. 9 and reported to police on Jan. 16.

A police news release said, "The unit was removed in a neat and orderly manner with all electrical and gas connections properly disconnected."
