Hit Telephone Pole, Visit Hospital, Get DUI Arrest

Police say a woman who was injured after the car she was driving hit a telephone pole last December was intoxicated.

After striking a telephone pole with her car at 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 13 and receiving minor injuries, a 31-year-old woman was charged March 4 with driving while under the influence and various other illegal actions, police said.

Darien police gave this account of the incident and arrest:

Rebecca Dresel of 2233 South Britian Rd. in Southbury hit a telephone pole as she was driving fast eastward down the Post Road. Soon the vehicle struck a telephone pole near the Interstate 95 entrance from the Post Road, close to Exit 13, southbound.

Dresel was the only one in her car at the time. She received minor injuries in the accident, but was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Darien EMS-Post 53.

Police requested a search warrant for medical records for Dresel. The report showed her blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, so police applied for a warrant for her arrest.
