Home from Vacation, Family Finds $10K in Jewelry Stolen

A Sherry Lane family returning home Sunday, March 23, after a week away found $10,000 in jewelry taken from jewelry boxes in two different bedrooms.

At about 12:30 a.m. that day, the thefts were reported to Darien police. The family had gone on vacation starting on March 17, when the jewelry was last seen.

There were no visible signs of forced entry, and the thief or thieves may have entered the house through a door that may have been unlocked.

Taken from a jewelry box in the master bedroom closet: an antique gold women's wrist watch, a cultured pearl necklace, a gold charm bracelet, a gold ring with a family crest, a gold wedding band and various other items.

A jewelry box from one of the children's bedrooms also had items stolen from it. The total value of all the items taken is about $10,000.
