Man on Probation Charged with Domestic Violence

Both a man and a woman were charged with disorderly conduct at their home on March 2 in a domestic violence incident, and the man was already on probation, so was initially held without bond.

A man and woman living on Hoyt Street got into a fight Saturday, March 2, and had scratch marks on them when police responded to a report of an assault in progress, police said.

The man, 30, and the woman (no age given by police) were each charged with disorderly conduct, police said.

Darien police gave this account of the matter:

At about 3:12 p.m., the woman's mother called police to report a violent incident. Police, who saw that the man and woman each had scratch marks, determined that a verbal argument had become a physical conflict.

The woman was issued a misdemeanor summons at the residence in order to care for their 16-month-old child.

The man was taken into custody after police determined that he is on probation and his his probation officer instructed police to take him into custody and not allow him to post bond. Both the man and the woman were to appear March 4 in state Superior Court in Stamford. Their next court date could not be confirmed.
