In Several Minutes, Shoplifter Steals Items Worth $1,803

You can get in and out of a store quickly if you know what you're looking for -- especially if you avoid the checkout line.

A lightening-fast shoplifter only took several minutes to enter CVS last weekend and then leave with 37 packages of Prilosec (a pill for digestive problems) and several electronic toothbrushes.

The man, caught on security cameras, entered the store on three occasions on Friday and Saturday, each time staying just long enough to get to the items he wanted, stuff them in his jacket and then leave the store.

The total amount taken from the store at 964 Post Rd. was $1,072.63 worth of Prilosec, a Sonicare toothbrush priced at $82.99, two Oral B brand toothbrushes with a total price of $307.98, and four other Oral B toothbrushes with a total price of $339.96. Total price: $1,803.56.

The thief first entered the store at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17. He is described as white, possibly Hispanic, wearing a white knit cap, a mustache, a black hooded jacket with a large (unidentified) orange logo on it. He also wore a white t-shirt that hung below the jacket, dark jeans and black and white sneakers.

A store security video shows the man stuffing toothbrushes in his jacket, zipping it up and walking out the store two minutes later.

Six minutes after that, he returns, goes to the boxes of Prilosec and then leaves the store -- all within sixty seconds (8:13 to 8:14 a.m.).

At 7:57 a.m. on Saturday, the man returned for more Prilosec and electric toothbrushes. Again, the suspect was in and out of the store quickly, according to the police report, although the report didn't give further details.

At 4:11 p.m. Saturday, CVS store personnel reported the incident to police and then showed police the video recordings.
