Consider the cell phone: You can use it all the time, almost everywhere. You can put down this everyday item and get distracted, forgetting to pick it back up again.
And never see it again, if you left it in a public place.
If your cell phone is an Apple iPhone, you could be out as much as $680.
That's essentially what happened to a Darien woman who told police she had her iPhone with her in the restroom at Splash car wash at 251 Post Rd. She estimated its value at $680.
On the same day as the incident, the woman reported the theft to police, at 11:44 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28.
From the time she left the restroom to the time she realized that she didn't have the cell phone, she said, only about 15 minutes had passed.
But it was too late.
