More than $165 in cash and coins was taken from Jake's Place restaurant, and the business that shares a small building with Jake's, Abode Antiques, was also burglarized sometime overnight last week.
The owner of Jake's told police that when he arrived at 6:11 a.m. Thursday at the small eatery at the corner of Ledge Road and Noroton Avenue, he found a money bag that contained $165 in rolled coins, loose coins and some cash had been taken from under the counter.
More cash had been taken from the register. Entry was made by forcing open the back door.
Entry into Abode Antiques, was made by forcing open a side door. A cash register drawer was missing. Police-report information available to news organziations didn't say how much had been taken. Neither business had alarm systems.
