Jogger, Twice Bitten, Not Too Shy to Tell Police

A jogger told police she was bitten on two different days by the same dog, who, in the second incident, started chasing her on Windsor Road.

A woman jogging on Windsor Road on Tuesday, Sept. 29, was chased by a loose dog, who bit her on the left knee, police said.

Darien police gave this account (an accusation not proven in court) of the matter:

It was the second time that month the jogger had been bitten by the same dog, and this time the jogger decided to tell police about it. She called at 9:59 a.m. The previous incident had occurred on Sept. 4.

She believed she knew where the dog lived, because it came out of he same yard in each incident.

Police went to the home and spoke with the owner, who told police she was planning to give the dog away.

Police issued two infraction tickets to the owner: One for owning or harboring a nuisance dog (cost: $75); the other for allowing a dog to roam (cost: $92). The total in fines was $167.
