One would think that in the peninsula of Long Neck Point, a landscaper wouldn't have to worry about someone grabbing his equipment and running off with it.
Certainly not some thief in a button-down shirt.
Well, one would be wrong.
A $600 backpack leaf-blower was stolen from a landscaping company while a crew was working at a Long Neck Point Road home, police said.
gave this account of the incident:
At about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, a worker for Freddy's Landscape Company told police he had seen a man running across the lawn of the home where the landscaper was working.
The man was clutching the landscaper's red Shindaiwa leaf blower as he ran. Then the man entered a Nissan Altima parked on the street. Next, the vehicle sped away, northbound.
The witness described the thief as a white male, about 30 years old, wearing a white, short-sleeve, button-down shirt and jeans. The man had blond hair and was about 6 feet in height. The witness's only description of the man who drove the Altima was that the driver was white.
The owner valued the leaf blower at $600.
