Laptop, Credit Cards Stolen: Dollars to Doughnuts?

Identity theft for doughnuts?

A wallet and a laptop were stolen from a 2006 Chevrolet Express left unlocked for an hour at the Avalon apartment complex at 137 Hollow Tree Ridge Rd.

Soon after the theft, which occurred sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the victim began cancelling credit cards that were in the wallet.

But not before someone used one of the victim's credit cards to make two purchases, converting dollars into a snack — perhaps doughnuts? — at a downtown Dunkin Donuts in Stamford.

One purchase was for $3.82, another for $4.13.

A Dell laptop valued at $300 was also taken in the theft, along with a pouch with the vehicle's registration, insurance card and $20 in cash.
