Main Ave. in Norwalk Closed by Downed Wires
Extensive traffic delays; major power outage.
One of the Norwalk's major north-south corridors—Main Avenue—was closed Tuesday afternoon in the area of the Merritt Parkway overpass after a truck snagged and tore down power lines.
Police closed Main Avenue between Creeping Hemlock Drive and Linden Street, resulting in extensive traffic backups. The closure also caused delays at exit 40B of the Merritt Parkway.
Police reopened one lane of traffic shortly after 1:30 p.m.
