An arrest on charges of driving while intoxicated resulted from a police officer noticing a defective brake light on car on Ledge Road at 1:10 a.m. Friday.
gave this account of the incident:
After seeing the 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, the patrol officer followed it to Hecker Avenue and had the car stop.
The officer could smell alcohol on the driver, Marcelino Sanchez, 45, of Ferris Avenue, Norwalk. Sanchez failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving while under the influence.
Police also found that Sanchez did not have a driver's license and that it was suspended, so he was charged with that, too. Sanchez later posted a $200 bond. He is scheduled to appear May 9 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
