Monday, Oct. 19

Vandalism to three double-pane windows at Darien High School.

Three broken windows were discovered at 7 a.m. by an employee. The windows are located by the A/V secretary’s office. There were also scratch marks on the windows, which were most likely broken by a thrown object. The windows were last observed intact on Friday at 2:10 p.m.

Motor vehicle burglaries occurred from two cars parked at the same residence on Woodland Drive.

The cars, a 2007 Volvo XC90 and a 2004 BMW 530i, were left unlocked and parked in the driveway. Items in the vehicles had been rummaged through but nothing was taken. The vehicles were entered between 5 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 6 a.m the following morning. Both of the driver’s doors on the vehicles were left ajar.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

A residential burglary was reported.

The house on Carolyn Court is currently unoccupied. When the house was checked at 11 a.m., the front door had been kicked in and the rear door was also found open. The last time the house had been checked on was on Saturday, Oct. 17 around 2 p.m. when all was secure. Four "No Trespassing" signs were taken from the front yard.

A motion detector camera belonging to the Darien Deer Management Committee was reported missing.

The camera, valued at $125, was discovered missing on Oct. 16 from Selleck’s Woods.

A GPS and an EZ-Pass were reported stolen from a motor vehicle.

The car, a 2007 Lexus Is250, had been left unlocked in the residence's garage on Walmsley Road; the garage door had been left open overnight. The owner believes the burglary happened sometime overnight between Oct. 16 and 17.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

A Bridgeport man was charged with possession of marijuana and failure to wear a seatbelt.

An officer stopped Brian Barnwell, 37, at the intersection of the Post Road and Outlook Drive for allegedly failing to wear a seatbelt. According to reports, Barnwell had a criminal history and was asked if he had any illegal substances in the car. He turned over some marijuana to police and more was found throughout the car for a total of .24 grams. Barnwell posted $500 bond and has a court date of Nov. 2.

Thursday, Oct. 22

Bottle of rum stolen from a motor vehicle.

A motor vehicle burglary was reported from a 1998 GMC Jimmy parked in the lot of 30 Old Kings Highway South. The owner of the vehicle observed a person sitting on the rear seat of her car. As she approached, he got out of the car and started running to the Post Road. The individual is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male, 5’8” to 5’10”, curly long hair and 17 or 18 years old. He was wearing a black shirt with red letters and baggy jeans. Taken from the car was an unopened bottle of Captain Morgan liquor, valued at $30.
