I strongly suspect people who read stories about crime are more likely to think about crime and therefore lock their doors. I strongly doubt that 19 entries in one night were accompanied by—what would it be? Something over 100 attempts, if this poll perfectly reflected the conditions on those streets that were hit. Imagine the dedication it took to attempt entry into 100 places, especially with so little stolen. Sounds like a desperate burglar.
