No Google Glass for Darien Man, Now $8,312 Poorer

A Brookside Road man on March 16 sent $8,312 to a supposed seller, Darien police say, to buy a "Google Glass"--a kind of set of spectacles being developed and tested by Google that show computer images to the wearer.

But he tried to buy the Google Glass on eBay from a "Vasiliy Timkin" of Moscow. What he received in the mail, allegedly from Timkin, was a package containing no spectacles, although it did contain a book on financial advice. Written in Russian.

The victim contacted eBay and PayPal about the crime, and they told him to file a complaint with Darien police so they could investigate the matter further.
