Over $2000 Missing From Stop & Shop Safe

Darien Police say they have identified persons of interest in the apparent larceny.

Over $2000 is missing and believed stolen from the hands of the Noroton Heights Stop & Shop, according to Darien Police.

The initial discovery was made on June 4, when employees of Stop & Shop (148 Heights Road) found that a large sum of cash—$2389.92, in all—was missing from the store's safe.

The bills and coins had been collected from the supermarket's registers and put in three money bags, which were then supposed to have been placed in the strongbox. But when the safe was reopened after the scheduled deposits, both the bags and the currency were missing.
