Pedestrian, 66, Struck at Mansfield & Post Rd. Corner

A woman walking downtown Thursday was injured when a Jeep Wrangler struck her.

A 66-year-old woman crossing the Post Road at its intersection with Mansfield Avenue received "non-life-threatening" injuries Thursday when she was struck by a Jeep Wrangler, according to police.

Darien police gave this account of the incident:

At about 9:48 a.m., a 2010 Jeep Wrangler was turning left onto the Post Road from Mansfield Avenue when the pedestrian was struck at the crosswalk.

The driver told police she never saw the woman walking until after the collision. Darien EMS-Post 53 took the pedestrian to Stamford Hospital.

The incident is under investigation by the Darien Police Department's accident investigation unit.
