Police Blotter: Audi S4 Stolen from Brookside Drive Home

Police also responded to two motor vehicle burglaries and the theft of more than $5,000 from an Avalon Darien unit.

TUESDAY, APRIL 12

Motor Vehicle Burglary: The burglary of a 1993 Saturn SL2 was reported by a Darien resident. According to the owner, the vehicle had been left unlocked briefly at St. John's Catholic Cemetery as she visted a gravesite. When she returned about five minutes later, she discovered that her wallet was missing from the front passenger seat. Contained in the wallet was about $30 in cash, an AARP card, a check card, and a driver's license.

Violation of a Protective Order: Robert Rush, 47, of Whiting, N.J. was charged with violating an order of protection granted . Police said Rush had sent her several letters through a third party while incarcerated at Bridgeport Correctional Center, a violation of the order. A warrant for his arrest was executed at the prison, where Rush is still being held. He was arraigned the same day.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13

Vandalism: The owner of a 2003 Saab 9-3 convertible reported that its cloth top had been slashed in two locations sometime on April 9-10. Police said the owner was not sure where the vandalism had occurred, but that the whole roof would likely need to be replaced.

THURSDAY, APRIL 14

Larceny: A $450 BlackBerry was reportedly stolen from a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe while the vehicle was parked at the . According to the owner, the phone had been left in a charger in the center console as the SUV went through the clinic's car wash. After the vehicle was parked and the woman made payment, she returned to find the item missing. Police were called to the scene around 4:25 p.m. and interviewed several employees of the clinic, but nobody reported observing suspicious activity.

Bank Scam: Three Bronx men were arrested after allegedly attempting a fraudulent withdrawal from HSBC bank (151 Post Rd.).

SATURDAY, APRIL 16

Marijuana Possession: Alastair Christopher, 31, of Brooklyn was charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop. Around 11:39 p.m., an officer reportedly noticed Christopher's 2003 Chevrolet Impala parked with its highbeams on in the right westbound lane of Post Road. When the officer approached the vehicle, a distinct odor of marijuana was detectable and Christopher "appeared nervous," according to Darien Police Capt. Fred Komm. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a pipe with marijuana residue and 4 grams of the drug contained in a plastic jar. Christopher was arrested and released after posting $250 bond. He is set to appear in court April 25.

Stolen Vehicle: A grey 2005 Audi S4 was reported stolen from the driveway of a Brookside Drive home. The residents — a husband and wife — reportedly left home in the morning for the gym and returned around 12:30 p.m. to find the vehicle missing. Police said the car had been locked at the time and that there were no signs of glass or forced entry. The convertible is valued at $16,900.

SUNDAY, APRIL 17

Burglary: A unit at Avalon Darien (137 Hollow Tree Ridge Rd.) was reported burglarized Sunday. According to police, some jewelry, video games, and other items — collectively valued at $5,605 — were stolen from the residence. A male resident told police that the burglary likely occurred between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 15 when he had left the door unlocked. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.

Larceny: Kim Barker, 58, of New Canaan was arrested after allegedly stealing $510 from an elderly Darien resident she had befriended.
