Monday, August 31

  • A Cannondale hybrid mountain bike, valued at $900, was taken from a residence on Old Kings Highway North. The bike had been left propped up against the shed. The owner of the bike noticed it missing around 6:30 p.m. A different bike was left in its place.
  • An Alpine brand 12 CD changer was taken from a 2002 Chevy Suburban from the interior console of the car. The CD changer was valued at $325. The car was parked at a residence on Mansfield Avenue and left unlocked while the owners were on vacation from Aug. 19 – 30. It is unknown which day the changer was taken.

Tuesday, September 1

  • A 30-year old Wallingford man was charged with violation of a protective order. He turned himself into police after receiving a warrant for his arrest. He went to court on Sept. 2 and posted $500 bond.

  • At around 8 p.m., Heather Harris, 64, of Stamford was charged with criminal trespass in the first degree, breach of peace in the second degree and interfering with a police officer at Trader Joe’s. According to police reports, Harris was being disruptive at the store; she helped herself to store samples that were not on display and passed them out to other customers. She was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of September 14.
  • A larceny of a purse was reported from Spotless Cleaners. The pink and brown Longchamp purse, valued at $80, was taken from under the register, behind the counter, while the owner went out to lunch. The purse contained $300 in cash, car and house keys, a wallet and a cell phone. The owner said she saw someone wearing blue jeans walking between the racks of clothes, but did not have a further description of the individual.
  • The theft of two 40-foot Wagner metal ladders was reported to police. The ladders were valued at $200 each. The ladders had been on the ground at the end of a driveway of a residence on Baywater Drive. They were discovered missing around 3 p.m.

Friday, September 4

  • Three motor vehicle burglaries were reported to police as having occurred around the same time:
  • A purse was taken from a 2004 Chevy Suburban parked in the driveway of a residence on Middlesex Road. The owner of the purse said she left her purse in the car around 2:25 p.m., went inside and then discovered the theft at 4:15 p.m. Cash in the amount of $400-500 was taken.
  • A 2004 Toyota Landcruiser was entered at a different residence on Middlesex Road. The car had been left unlocked between 2:30 and 3 p.m. A purse, which had been left in the car, was rifled through, however nothing was taken.  
  • A purse was taken from a Lincoln Navigator parked in the driveway of a residence on Scofield Farm Road. The purse was left in the backseat around 3:30 p.m. The woman noticed around 4:05 p.m. that the purse was missing. Cash in the amount of $140 was taken from the purse. The woman reported seeing a suspicious vehicle, described as an older model car, possibly a Toyota, with three Hispanic males inside. Later, her son reported he saw a Hispanic male walking out of the driveway earlier in the day, whom he described as 5’7” or 5’8”, slim and wearing a tan baseball hat and green shirt with yellow collar.
