POSSESSION Theodore Anderson, 28, of Norwalk was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop led to a search of his vehicle. Police initially pulled Anderson over on Tokeneke Road near Silver Lakes Drive after noticing his 1999 Volkswagen Jetta lacked a front license plate. When an officer informed Anderson that Zulu, the department's K-9, would conduct a routine free-air sniff around his vehicle, he reportedly admitted to the officer that he had marijuana in the car. Zulu conducted the sniff anyway, corroborating the presence of the drug.

A subsequent search of the car turned up a plastic container of marijuana on the front driver's seat and a red canvas bag in the back containing the drug, rolling papers, a pipe with residue, and a second "multicolor" pipe. All told, police said 15.6 grams of the drug were found. Anderson was arrested and released on $500 bond. He is set to appear in court June 30.

SOLICITATION Sharron Carrol, 43, of Michigan City, Ind. was arrested for soliciting without a permit and interfering with an officer as he went door to door trying to sell magazines. Police received a report around 3:30 p.m. from a Casement Street residence that Carrol had been aggressive and refused to leave the premises during an attempted sale. He was confronted by police soon after and asked to show a permit. When he furnished one, police noted that it was in a different name—that of Carrol's field manager.

A background check of Carrol revealed an extensive criminal history, including 30 arrests in seven states dating back to 1985. Two warrants were out for Carrol's arrest—one on narcotics charges in Los Angeles and one on theft of a motor vehicle in Minneapolis—neither of which was extradictable. Police also found credit cards in the name of Michael Robinson in Carrol's wallet and turned up numerous other aliases during the background check. Carrol was arrested and held on $5000 bond, which he was unable to post. He was held over the weekend and was set to appear in court Monday.

Police said this type of solicitation is common, and that if residents encounter any trouble—or if a traveling salesperson fails to clearly display a permit—they should contact the department. The company Carrol worked for goes by three names, an official said: OH Legacy, DT Connections, and High Standards Co.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE Paul Fisher, 42, of Huckleberry Lane was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right over the weekend. Around 2 a.m., an officer traveling northbound on Brookside Road behind Fisher's 2006 Acura RL noticed it cross the double yellow line several times. When the officer stopped Fisher near Molly Lane and approached the vehicle, he displayed bloodshot and glassy eyes, and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanated from the vehicle. After failing field sobriety tests, Fisher was arrested and released on $50 bond. He is set to appear in court June 30.
