Larceny, larceny, larceny.

Monday, Nov. 16

Garden gnomes missing from home.

Larceny of five cement garden gnomes, valued at $75 each, and a garden globe valued at $30 was reported from a residence on Edgewood Road around 12 p.m. The gnomes were last seen in the front yard on Sunday, Nov. 15 around 3 p.m.

Woman assaulted.

An attempted assault on a female victim occurred in the area of Leroy Avenue and Middlesex Road around 6:20 p.m. The woman was lost and had pulled over on Leroy Avenue. A subject described as a possibly Hispanic male about six-foot-tall and wearing dark clothing and a hat was walking on the side of the road. She asked him for directions, at which point he allegedly grabbed her left arm, causing her shirt to rip. She managed to escape. The incident is under investigation.

Tuesday, Nov. 17

Homeless man attempts to steal hundreds of dollars worth of meat.
Roy Wright, 57, who lives in a homeless shelter in Norwalk, was charged with criminal attempt at larceny in the sixth degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police responded to a report of a larceny in progress at Shaw’s supermarket around 1:40 p.m. The suspect had been walking around the store filling the cart with meat, which was later found to total $371 worth. Wright abandoned the cart after he noticed he was being watched, according to police. When police spoke to him outside the store, he was found to have a crack pipe in his pocket. Wright did not post $1000 bond and went to court the next day.

Teenager steals credit card and hits up the food court.
A 17-year old youthful offender from Bridgeport turned himself into police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with theft of a credit card, six counts of illegal use of a credit card, four counts of larceny in the sixth degree and two counts of larceny in the fifth. The arrest stemmed from a complaint on Sept. 28 of a female who reported her Citibank debit card missing from Little Thai Kitchen. The charges were made at the Trumbull Mall and the Connecticut Post Mall in Milford at stores including McDonalds, FYE, Pretzel Time, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Abercrombie & Fitch and Texas Barbeque. He admitted to using the card for a total of $695.76 worth of charges. He was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of Dec. 2.

Car window smashed.

Vandalism to a 2008 VW Jetta was reported at the YMCA parking lot, 2420 Post Road. An employee parked the car at 11:30 a.m. and upon returning to the car at 8:45 p.m., discovered the passenger side window had been smashed. Nothing was taken from the vehicle; the car had been left locked.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

Two unlocked motor vehicle burglaries.
A motor vehicle burglary was reported from a residence on Concord Lane around 9:30 a.m. The car, a 2008 Chevy Suburban, had been rifled through but nothing was taken. The car was left unlocked and parked around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

A second motor vehicle burglary was reported from a residence on Hampton Road around 11:30 a.m. A $100 iPod Nano was taken from the unlocked 1998 Audi A4. The police had been investigating the neighborhood as part of a canvass. The owner of the car had parked it around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 17.

Thursday, Nov. 19

Clarinet stolen from middle school student.

A clarinet, valued at $650, was reported stolen from a student at Middlesex Middle School. The student said he lost track of the clarinet in mid-October; it was usually kept in the band room.

Another gnome missing from home.
A garden gnome valued at $80 was reported missing by the same complainant who had reported 5 gnomes missing on Monday, Nov. 16. The gnome was last seen on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. and it was reported missing around 1 p.m. the next day.

Two tiny televisions nicked from CVS.
A larceny from CVS, 964 Post Road, was reported by an anonymous customer. The larceny occurred on Nov. 18 but was not reported until the next day at 12:37 p.m. Two 7-inch color TVs, valued at $258.98 in total, were taken. The anonymous customer reported they saw two suspects take the TVs and followed them to the car. The customer got a plate number and police identified the vehicle as a 1998 Ford Taurus from North Branford. The owner of the vehicle has a criminal history, according to police, and the incident is under investigation.

Friday, Nov. 20

Over $11,000 worth of technology stolen from home.

A residential burglary was reported around 12:30 p.m. A female homeowner returned to the home and saw the sliding door and glass rear door unlocked. She had left the doors locked and a spare key hidden outside the house when she left at 9:30 a.m. Items taken from the house included a Playstation, camcorder, iPods, a camera with lenses and a laptop. In excess of $11,000 of items were taken.

iPhone and iPod stolen from unlocked car.
A motor vehicle burglary was reported from a residence on Norton Avenue, which occurred sometime overnight. The owner of the car, of unknown make and model, noticed his iPhone and iPod were missing from the car around 7:30 a.m. He had parked the car at 7:30 p.m. the night before and reported hearing a noise from outside around 9 p.m. The car had been left unlocked. The iPhone was valued at $250 and the iPod Nano was valued at $150.

Saturday, Nov. 21


Two men buy lots of vodka and blur the facts.
Raphael Kirton, 23, of Brooklyn was charged with interfering with an officer. He, along with a similar-looking man, had been purchasing high-end liquor from several liquor stores, with a credit card police were not sure belonged to him. He and his friend purchased $178 of Grey Goose vodka at Frate’s Wine & Liquors, on the Post Road. The credit card had not been reported stolen. Later, the friend had attempted to buy a case of six bottles of Absolut vodka but the transaction was denied because he did not have a form of ID. Police arrived to Leary’s Liquors on Heights Road where Kirton was outside the store. He denied being there with any friend and gave police false information. He posted $2500 bond and has a court date of Nov. 30.

Two teens damage mailboxes.
Two youthful offenders, both 17-year old males, were charged with criminal mischief in the second degree around 11:15 p.m. A resident of Devon Road reported he heard a metal clanging noise and saw two young people walking around the area. Three mailboxes were found damaged – two on Devon Road and one on Stanley Road. They were released on promises to appear and both have a court date of Dec. 2.

Sunday, Nov. 22

Window screen ripped from home in burglary attempt.

An attempted burglary was reported from a residence on Coachlamp Lane around 1 p.m. The homeowner found a window screen on the ground with two fresh cut marks on the corners of the screen. The family had been away from Nov. 20 to Nov. 22. His wife’s car had also been burglarized on Nov. 18, he said, however nothing had been taken and there were no signs of forced entry.
