Police Blotter: Sept. 14 - 20

Motor vehicle burglaries continue, along with thefts from homes.

Monday, September 14

  • A motor vehicle burglary was reported from a residence on Abbey Road. The car, a 2007 Chevy, had been left unlocked in the driveway. Taken was an iPod and adaptor, valued at $200. The theft occurred on Sept. 11 between 2 and 5 p.m.

Tuesday, September 15

  • Frank Keller, a 37-year-old Fairfield man, was charged with seven counts of burglary in the third degree, two counts of larceny in the fifth degree and four counts of larceny in the sixth degree, after admitting to seven car burglaries in Darien.   • An 18-year-old man was charged with assault in the third degree, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a domestic violence incident. Police responded to the scene around 1:12 p.m. and discovered injuries to the victim’s face and lip. Police also detected an odor of marijuana and found a small amount in the man’s bedroom, along with a bong. The man posted $2,500 bond and had a court date of Sept. 16. He was released on conditions not to return to the residence or to have contact with the victim. Police received a call around 10:26 p.m. that night from a neighbor saying the man was on the victim's property, yelling. The man was charged with violation of conditions of release and held on $10,000 bond. He went to court the next day.

Wednesday, Sept. 16

  • A burglary occurred at a residence on Crooked Mile Road around 12:35 p.m., when police responded to an alarm activation. The door to the garage had been left unlocked. The door to the house had been forcibly entered using a pick axe. Items taken from the master bedroom included empty Tiffany jewelry boxes and six purses. The homeowners were not home during the burglary.

Thursday, Sept. 17

  • A motor vehicle burglary occurred at a residence on Laforge Road. Taken from the 2007 Honda Pilot was a Garmin Nuvi GPS valued at $300. The car had been parked in the driveway and left unlocked for a week. The owner was not sure when the theft occurred.
  • A motor vehicle burglary was reported from a residence on Dubois Street from a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner. A Garmin Street Pilot GPS valued at $250 was taken. The owner of the car said she remembered putting the GPS in the glove compartment on Sept. 7, but could not find it on Sept. 12. The car had been left unlocked.

Friday, Sept. 18

  • A motor vehicle burglary involving forced entry occurred at the parking lot of Bertucci’s Restaurant, 54 Post Rd. The family arrived at the restaurant at 8:50 p.m. and exited at 9:44 p.m. to find the driver’s side front window had been smashed. Taken from the front seat was a brown leather fanny pack, containing credit cards and $25 in cash. The damage estimate to the car was unknown.
  • A man returned to his car on the Post Road near Darien Immediate Care after walking his dog, only to discover a man sitting in his 2007 Audi A8. The man jumped out and into the driver’s seat of another Audi parked nearby. He drove at the man and his dog, who had to run out of the way to avoid being hit. As the man yelled at the thief for taking his iPhone, the thief put the car into reverse and hit the man’s car, nearly striking the man and his dog. The car took off at a high rate of speed. Police later discovered that the Audi was stolen from a residence on Richmond Hill Road in Norwalk. The residence had also been burglarized.

Saturday, Sept. 19

  • A bicycle was reported missing from a residence on Wakeman Road around 7:40 p.m. The bicycle was described as a blue, five-speed mountain bike, valued at $300. The last time the bike was seen was on Sept. 9. The garage had been left open during the day during that time period.
