Police Blotter: September 8 - 13

A busy week for the Darien Police Department.

Tuesday, September 8

  • Trevor Crowe, 41, of South Salem, N.Y. was charged with DWI around 9:46 p.m. A motor vehicle accident involving Crowe’s 2004 Mercedes ML350 occurred at the intersection of Middlesex Road and Hillcrest Avenue. Crowe hit an unoccupied Subaru that had been parked on the side of the road with the emergency flashers activated. Crowe failed a field sobriety test and posted $250 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 22.
  • A larceny of a purse occurred from Espresso Neat, 20 Grove Street. The owner had put her purse on the floor and later noticed items were missing, including $80 in cash and several credit cards. One of the credit cards was used at Vernal’s Auto Service the same day. Security footage at the service station identified the car the suspect was driving as a purple, early 1990s model Plymouth Voyager. The female suspect was described as wearing a black t-shirt that possibly said "New York" and black sneakers.
  • A domestic violence incident occurred in which a 22-year-old woman was charged with assault in the 3rd degree and disorderly conduct. The woman was released on a promise to appear and had a court date of Sept. 9.
  • Christopher Davis, 34, of Stamford was charged with criminal attempt at robbery in the 3rd degree, conspiracy to robbery in the 3rd degree and larceny in the 3rd degree. He was appearing at Stamford Superior Court on Tuesday on charges unrelated to those of the Darien Police. Bond was set at $250,000. Davis allegedly participated in two bank robberies in Darien–one at Chase Bank on June 10 and one at Citibank on July 7.

Wednesday, September 9

  • A larceny occurred at a residence on Edgerton Street while the family was on vacation. Taken were two rings: a platinum wedding band and an engagement ring valued at $12,000 to $15,000. The family was out of town from September 5 to 7 and had mistakenly left the garage door open and the door to the house unlocked. The owner of the rings realized they were missing on September 8. The incident is under investigation.
  • A 44-year-old man from Greenwich was charged with forgery in the 3rd degree, three counts of criminal impersonation and three counts of larceny in the 3rd degree. There was a warrant issued for his arrest stemming from an Aug. 14 incident at Ring’s End Lumber. The man allegedly made fraudulent charges to an account in the amount of $1,899.73 over three purchases at the Darien store and one purchase at the Wilton Ring’s End. He was identified by a security camera.
  • Spero Moschos, a 28-year old Stamford man, was charged with robbery in the 3rd degree, criminal attempt at robbery in the 3rd degree, conspiracy to robbery in the 3rd degree. He was held on $250,000 bond and arraigned the same day he was charged. Moschos allegedly helped Christopher Davis to rob several banks in the Fairfield County area, including two in Darien.

Thursday, September 10

  • A 19-year old Fairfield woman, Stephanie Sara, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to obey a stop sign. Sara was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer and traveling south on Hollow Tree Ridge Road. She was stopped on Heights Road where officers detected a strong odor of marijuana. Marijuana was found in car in the amount of 6.5 grams, as well as 13 marijuana cigarettes. Sara was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of September 22.

Friday, September 11

  • Vandalism to a town vehicle was reported. The window of a 1999 Ford Explorer used by Parks and Recreation was cracked and later shattered when the tailgate was closed. The damage was most likely made with a rock. The damage estimate is unknown.

Sunday, September 13

  • Michael Teixeira, a 22-year old Bridgeport man, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana around 1:50 a.m. Teixeira was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer, exited I-95 at Exit 13 Southbound and allegedly went through a stop sign. When police pulled him over, they detected an odor of marijuana according to police reports. Zulu, the Darien Police K-9, was called in and detected the odor of illegal drugs. Marijuana, ecstasy and a blue glass pipe used for smoking marijuana were found in the vehicle. Teixeira had 18.2 grams of marijuana in the car. He was released on $1,000 bond and has a court date of Sept. 25.

Police also recieved eight reports of car burglaries this week.
