Police Blotter: Week of August 10

Vandalism, Burglary, Larceny and a DWI

Wednesday, August 12:

  • A rash of vandalism occurred on Baywater drive, during the late night hours. Six mailboxes were torn off their posts, and several wooden stop signs including a speed bump sign are missing.
  • Two cars were vandalized on Locust Hill Road between the hours of midnight and 2 a.m. The windshield of a Ford F-150 was shattered by a large rock found on the hood of the car. A second car, a 2008 Ford Explorer, was keyed.

Thursday, August 13:

  • Twelve unlocked motor vehicles parked in the Noroton Heights area of town surrounding Woodland Park were burglarized. Items stolen include GPS devices, money, jewelry, cell phones, food and cigarettes. The incident occurred during the overnight hours of Wednesday to Thursday.

Friday, August 14:

  • A female gym member at the Darien YMCA reported she was a victim of larceny, when her wallet was stolen from her pocketbook between the hours of 8 and 9 a.m. Her wallet contained identification, credit card and $20 cash.
  • Guilford resident, David Viscomi, was arrested for arrested for illegal possession of marijuana, operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He is scheduled to appear in court at the end of the month.

Saturday, August 15:

  • Andrew Piddingoton of Stamford was charged with a DWI, operating a suspended license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and failure to obey a red light. Piddington ran a red light at Exit 10 off the I-95 North and hit the guard rail. Both airbags deployed. The incident occurred at 3:48 a.m, Piddington posted a $100 bond and has a scheduled court date of August 25.

Sunday, August 16:

  • Darryl Skiba of Stamford was arrested on two counts of larceny in the sixth degree when police noticed his 1996 Dodge Caravan, parked in the Darien CVS parking lot, had two different plates, neither belonging to him. One plate was stolen from Trumbull; the other was stolen from Wilton. He posted $1000 bond, and is due to appear in court on August 26.
