After his mother took his cell phone away as a disciplinary measure last Saturday, a 14-year-old Darien boy broke a door and smashed a lamp, causing his arrest, according to police.
Darien police gave this account of the incident:
When the mother took the boy's cell phone privileges from him, an argument resulted in their Noroton Avenue home, and then the boy became violent. He broke apart his bedroom door and smashed a lamp on the living room floor.
Police, called at about 4:30 p.m., discussed the matter with the mother and decided to charge the boy with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief. He was referred to juvenile court in Stamford for a May 1 appearance.
