Police: DUI After Driving Oh ... So ... Slow on Post Rd

Darien police charged a man with driving while under the influence of alcohol after they saw him driving in the middle of the night very, very slow on the Post Road near Norwalk, police said.

A 49-year-old man was driving while intoxicated at about 10 mph and crossing over the double yellow line on the Post Road in the wee hours of Saturday, March 2, police said.

Darien police gave this account of the incident:

At about 1:35 a.m., a police officer saw a 2002 Honda Accord traveling east on the Post Road near its intersection of West Norwalk Road (see map attached to this article).

The officer followed the car, driven by Mario Campos of Bridgeport, which stopped in the parking lot of the Double Tree Hotel, just over the Darien-Norwalk border. The driver failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.

Campos, of Madison Ave., Bridgeport, was charged with driving while under the influence and failure to drive on the right side of the road. He posted a $250 bond and is a scheduled to appear March 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

No joke. But after seeing the political talent in the state, I don't hold out much hope.
