A 33-year-old woman working as a babysitter for a family was given a family credit card to allow her to buy household items for the family, Darien police said.
But she also charged items for herself to the tune of $1,942.04, police said, so they charged her with fourth-degree larceny.
Police first received a complaint about the matter on Dec. 20 from a Darien resident who had hired Laura Almache of Ingleside Ave., Norwalk. By Wednesday, March 13, police had obtained a warrant for Almache's arrest, and she turned herself in on that day.
She was released on a written promise to appear March 25 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
