Police: Dad Slaps Daughter, 21, Gets Arrested

Darien police have arrested a father after he twice slapped his 21-year-old daughter in their Noroton Avenue home.

A 50-year-old man living on Noroton Avenue was arrested Sunday on assault and other charges after he twice slapped his daughter, Darien police said.

Capt. Frederick W. Komm, commander of the detective division and a spokesman for the department, gave this description of the incident:

Police received a 911-call at 6:52 p.m. and yelling could be heard in the background, but the call was immediately ended.

They then received a second call from the same telephone number from a 21-year-old woman who said her father was intoxicated and angry. Police could again hear yelling in the background. She told police she had locked herself in a bathroom.

When police arrived at the home, they were told that the father had slapped his daughter across the face, then she locked herself in the bathroom. He then broke down the bathroom door and again slapped her.

The daughter did not require medical attention.

Police charged the father with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct. He posted a $2,500 bond and was to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday.

Editor's note: Because of the relatively minor nature of the charges in a domestic incident, Darien Patch will not be releasing the arrested man's name.

Graffiti incident

A property manager found some graffiti spray painted on the back wall of the building at 1078 Post Rd. on Monday, Feb. 20, and reported it to police at 9:44 a.m. The graffiti had not been there at 5 p.m. the previous afternoon.
