Around 4 p.m., Darien Police and Stamford narcotics officers conducted a joint search of the residence, where they reportedly found 22.5 grams of prepackaged marijuana in an unlocked safe, $945 in cash, a marijuana grinder, transaction records, and a shoebox containing numerous baggies used for packaging the drug.

During the search, a woman who claimed to be Simpson's girlfriend also arrived at the residence. At first she told investigators that she did not have any drugs on her, but Zulu—the department's drug detection dog—indicated otherwise.
