At approx. 1:16 PM on Sunday, 08-11-2013, officers of the Darien Police Department responded to [...] Casement Street on the report of a domestic violence incident where Hollis Ross, operating a late model Lexus sedan, is alleged to have driven across several neighborhood lawns at high speed, subsequently striking a late model Lexus SUV owned by his estranged wife while it was parked in the driveway.  Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Two female adult children were standing in the driveway by the Lexus SUV at the time of this incident and information obtained at the scene support the allegation that Mr. Ross was attempting to intentionally strike the adult children standing in the driveway.

The adult children narrowly escaped being struck by the vehicle by diving into bushes and plantings that are along the driveway.  After the collision, Mr. Ross got out of his vehicle and armed himself with a yellow framing hammer, which had been in the Lexus SUV, and began to smash the window of his estranged wife’s SUV.  Both adult children fled and were able to re-enter the house and lock the door while another family member called 911.

An uninvolved pedestrian was also walking in the area as Ross sped past; this pedestrian was also endangered by Ross’ actions.

When officers arrived, Ross surrendered without incident.  He admitted to officers at the scene that he had been drinking alcohol and was given field sobriety tests which he did not pass.

The Darien Police Department is in possession of a valid protective order issued by the State of Pennsylvania prohibiting any contact between Mr. Ross and his estranged wife and probable cause was developed that Mr. Ross violated this order.

At the time of this press release, Mr. Ross is being held at the Darien Police Department under a $500,000.00 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Monday, August 12, 2013.
